I have a survivor 1950 Cheiftain and I would like to remove the radio unit to clean up the unit. However, I wanted to see if anyone knows how to remove the unit? I don't see any screws that hold it to the dash... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks - John |

If you check under "MEMBERS" and then "On-Line Reference Library" you will see that we have a complete Service Manual for 1949-54 Pontiacs. In that manual check "Accessories" and you will find complete radio removal instructions.
They will explain the lack of screws holding it to the dash. Most all radios are held in place (primarily) by nuts on the volume and station dial shafts... it's all explained in the manual.
Would love to see more information on your survivor Pontiac. Any chance of some photos and story about you and your car for one of our monthly "Cover" features? _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Larry -
Thanks for the guidance on the radio removal, I was able to get it removed this evening. As for photos and the story about my 1950 Cheiftain, absolutely. Let me get a few more photos uploaded and send something over.
Thanks,
John |

I sent you an e-mail with some thoughts on the article.
Please also start yourself a "Photo Gallery" of your car. Click on the "Photo Gallery" in the bar above to begin.
