We all know that 1955 ushered in the Pontiac V8 era... and what an era it started! 1963 Tempest Super Duty
People like to say "the harder I work, the luckier I get." That, of course, applies to those who "make their own luck" through hard work. But, then again, sometimes there is just plain "Pure Luck" as in this story.
This event involves good luck for a seller who almost made a very dumb mistake, and a buyer who landed the big prize. In this case a long-lost super rare 1963 Tempest Super Duty was found, bought, and restored to past glory. Could you be so lucky? Perhaps the "harder I work" theory may apply as you scavenge the nooks and crannys of potential Pontiac buried treasure.

1967 Dick Jesse Slant Roof GTO- Found?
Pontiac is rich with racing history. Back during its best years factory efforts kept the name at the top of the list on both straight line and round-D-round racing. But, beyond the factory sponsorship (whether open or through the back door), some of the most interesting creations came from the minds and hands of the individuals dedicated to making Pontiac the best- the Winner. one such was Dick Jesse- "Mr. Unswitchable."
Here we are reporting on a possible discovery of his famous- and unusual- "Slope Roof" '67 GTO. If anyone has any further information on this, please let us know.

1971 NASCAR GTO
It appears that this is not just a urban myth, but for real... there was a GTO running in NASCAR in 1971. However, all else seems to fall into the "myth" category. At least in that there is little information about this car. It seems that there was more success with a model maker producing this car in various forms than there was with the actual car.

Every once and a while you find something a bit out of the ordinary... OK, a lot out of the ordinary! Such is the case of this account of a Pontiac OHC-6 souped up and planted in a.... ready? A boat! Although this project never got off the ground (perhaps not the right choice of words, but you get the point), it sure looked neat.

Running a Firebird at Bonneville
Recently Pontiac author and historian John Gunnell made a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats with the local Fox Valley Technical College to help them try to break the 200 mph mark with the Firebird that the students built.
The car is the result of a lot of effort and help from others, and almost made the mark. If not for a transmission failure, it would have easily joined the 200 mph Club. But, there's next year with even more knowledge and experience now under their collective belts.

We forget that in more recent Pontiac racing history, there were giants who stood out from the crowd. Such was the case with Rusty Wallace.
