Ok, I was taking the gearbox out & I needed to remove floor shift. I was looking a sur clip, But my mate pushed the two pins together & it came out Great, Now how do I get it back into place. Thank Mick |

Your '38 was the first year to offer a column shift. Obviously yours still has the floor one.
Oddly my parts manual shows lots of info on the column shifts, but nothing on the floor shifts. Perhaps there is a separate transmission manual that I do not have.
But your mention of "pushed the two pins together" is the same as the column shifter. As a matter of fact, the item number 4.025 (see attached exploded view drawing) for these pins is the same for the '38 floor shift (and earlier years too).
