I have a 1955 with Power Steering, it has the Vickers Pump, and it works fine, it just leaks like a sieve. No one seems to sell an overhaul kit for it. Does anyone out there have any source for parts, also, can substituting a Saginaw work, easier to get parts for and look very similar? Any help would be appreciated. |

Check with California Pontiac Restoration (CPR), they have a rebuilding (core exchange) service for your pump. Pretty reasonable looking too. Check at: http://www.pontiacparts.net/Chassis/page28.htm
As far as switching pumps, anything is possible. But if I was going to that much trouble, I would switch to a good old garden variety GM pump like they used all through the '70s and beyond. But, I would first go with a rebuild like CPR offers. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Thanks, I have already contacted CPR and they do not have any rebuild kits either. So I am reaching out here to see if anyone else may have some sources. My preferences are to keep it original, I just can't have it leaking like it does. |

I guess CPR needs to update their web site.
A Google search usually produces a lot of stuff. Here is one I found. Not familiar with them, but a call never hurts: http://www.rebuildingfactory.com/

Keep us posted. This is info others could use too. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
