Was just informed last night that there will not only be a Fast Four for Door Cars, but also a Fast Four for Rails.
Will pay all four places for each class, the winner of each will have a run off for the "Big Chief" trophy! _________________ Thomas Horn

When Larry came up with the idea for this race, he wanted to keep it "All Pontiac"...there has been mention by fellow racers and spectators to run it like Norwalk...for the bracket program let anything run as long as it is a Pontiac Bodied Car.
Also has been metion of making it a BOP race...As for this would you rather have it strictly BOP or allow any type of engine as long as the car was BOP?
How would the racers and spectators of the board like to see it. I for one would love to see this event continue on, but with car and spectator numbers like Sunday it's going to be hard to come back from that...
Any and all input is appreciated. I will be talking this all over with Larry in the weeks/months to come. _________________ Thomas Horn

For my 2-cents, it seems like there will have to be some analysis of what is in the area and when that might be competing with Larry's event. Also, perhaps a holiday weekend isn't the best, especially when it is so early, as this year's was.
Perhaps an Al Pontiac Saturday followed by an "open" Sunday like Steve Barzak does in Arizona might be an idea. Kind of like let "the other guys" come take onthe Ponchos.
Please let Larry know that we at PontiacRegistry.com are happy to do whatever we can to help support and promote the event-- free advertising, free help with graphic needs, etc.
It is getting tougher and tougher to figure out what the hobbyists want and need today.
Keep us posted on ideas and developments. |

I appreciate all the hard work invested in this event by Larry and his family. I am sure it was a hard blow to have such a small attendance on Sunday.
I spoke with Larry at the event and told him I would be more than happy to build on to the car show. He only had 5 cars on the show field, 3 of which were racecars that helped out. I have had seven years experience building on a local level car show and it was very successful. I live in a small town of about 1300 citizens and we were able to make a big draw to this small community. I had 63 cars my first year and nearly 150 by my last year. I realize this is a all Pontiac show, but I always had a good number of Pontiacs attend.
The holiday weekend played a large role in my friends attending. The family comes first. All these friends had plans set with the family. You could have easily added another 10 cars to the show and race if not for the holiday. That is ten cars from just my local area!
restored 1969 Firebird (plans with kids)
1999 30th anniversary T/A (I could only bring one car. My nephew was unable to bring my T/A this year.)
2005 GTO (visited parents over holiday)
1989 Anniversary T/A (15,000 miles)
1978 T/A (6,500 original miles) (another family trip)
1969 GTO (small camping family trip)
1963 A/FX Tempest (same owner as 1978 T/A)
1968 Firebird
You all probably all get the point.
A Buick, Olds, Pontiac race may be what it takes to get good attendance. Look at the local demographics. It would be great though to keep it an all Pontiac format. Going to take some more additional hard work.
Sponsorship, layout, word-of-mouth advertising and good old business basics will be some of my approach to help the show if Larry allows. I know I have spoken to Thomas on this subject to help out Larry. After this event, I feel obligated as a Pontiac enthusiast to help keep this magnificent event alive. |

I shall talk to Larry about possibly making it a BOP event. Keeping it an All Pontiac event isn't quite working for our small area.
Seems like a different weekend needs to be picked as well. Main reason for having a Holiday weekend was in case of a rainout we would be able to use the track the next day and not have to worry about having to take off from work.
These things will all be kept in mind.
Jeff, I'm sure that Larry would appreciate the help with the car show. Do you have his phone number or email address so that you two can work closely on making it better?
Let me know

Hi Thomas,
I will need to get Larry's contact phone number and e-mail. I have already left my contact info with him.
I would like to get started A.S.A.P. on a format for the car show. Larry had about five classes for the show, correct? I was going to start rounding up some sponsor money probably at the beginning of 2009. It would be great to discuss possible date for next years event. Once a date is determined, I would be more than happy to try to get it in any sources we can.
I think Larry's drag race program is great and can be left alone. Just need to get much more participation. BOP event may be the answer.
How about some added atractions? Selden Ruwwe's A/FX Tempest. Would love to see some Nostalgia Super Stockers at the race.
Thanks,
Jeff |

Jeff,
Larrys cell number is 573-783-9555, email is 6781firebirds@sbcglobal.net
If you have done that well with the show you put on, I"m sure you'll be able to bring more to Sikeston.
I believe you are correct on the amount of classes. Kind of just went by generations of the cars.
Have yet to talk to Larry since the event, have just been getting ideas from the Pontiac message boards on what should be done.
Would love to see some NSS cars there. Larry Quinn is another that comes to mind, I know that Hooter from the PY board is good friends with him.
Keep in touch, maybe we can keep Larrys confidence up and have this event again in '09.

Larry Quinn puts on a great show. Rick Johnson's "No Sponsor" is equally impressive.
I am going to start making some contacts to round up some more ideas. Once everything is on the table, a guy can see what is worth trying.
I definitely want Larry to continue having the program. He put his neck out for the Pontiac community and everyone needs to help support his efforts. |

Any info on Larry's race for next year? Does he plan to change the date? With Labor Day Weekend, I feel he is missing out on attendance.
Great event though. Need t oget more attendance and it could easily be the best Pontiac race and show in the Midwest. |
