1962 Grand Prix

Hello,
Just had a couple questions on a restoration of my 62 Grand Prix. I'm not new to the hobby, just new to fullsize Pontiacs.
1.) What is the correct finish for the top of the cowls where the data plate is fastened? I've seen all three finishes, Satin black, Flat black, and body color. What is correct?
2.) Also what can be done on the inside of a trunk where the cardboard/backerboard between the decklid skin and underside has been painted. My decklid is almost perfect with the exception of a 70's laquer touch up on the underside.
Thanks for your help,

Mark,
Welcome to the full size Pontiacs!!! You'll love your '62 GP.
The firewall should be a 60% flat black - I'll normally use a "hot rod" black primer - it's a perfect finish. The factory used an epoxy primer and the PPG DP90, which is an epoxy primer, is also a perfect finish, and a durable paint.
As far as your deck lid is concerned, are you talking about the board that is on the deck lit itself? If it is, there really isnt' too much can do about that.

Mark,
I have to agree with Ron on the cardboard. I too am working on a 62 GP. As far as the firewall however, mine was the original body color. On the top where the tag fastens, I think that is supposed to be black. Since I am not worried about a 100% correct original, I painted my firewall semi-gloss black. Hope this helps.
