Ive had three 68's so i guess i'm biased too. But i like all of them for different reasons. If i had to pick a 2nd place winner it would probably be a 1965.

Good Choice ... THE JUDGE IS ALWAYS A FAVORITE !!

I had to lump the GTO's in a sub-Catagory even though they have very distinct difference because the POLL said there was too many options by the Way !

I really "waffle" on this question and I've changed my mind back and forth over the years. For now, I vote for the 65. It's the first year as a stand alone model and it brings back memories of an awesome time in history and in my life. I think the 67 is the best looking GTO but the 65 will remain my favorite - for now.

Well when I got my first GTO was when I was a Senior in Highschool it was a '64 Tri-Power 3-speed it got rearended and had to be put out to pasture next was a '64 Lemans 428 Tri-Power 4-speed since then I've had 3-'65GTO's,'66GTO,'67GTO 3-'68GTO's ,'70 Lemans,'78 Trans Am 470 cu.in.and a '80 Turbo TA I still have one of my '65 GTO's and the Turbo TA I like '65 GTO's the most but '64 GTO's come a close second. '67-'70 had the best engines but you can put them in an Ol'GOAT

I of course have to say that the 70 is the best of all, but like most of you I'm bias also. I would like to see an 08 GTO based on the styling of the 68 through 72.

Very Happy

My current Goat is a 67, and the coke bottle body style is just so unbeatable. I like the 67 tail-light treatment better than the 66. But I also owned a 65, and that styling was beautiful as well. It is a real hard decision, but I think the 67 wins out. Wink

I'm partial to the 1965 GTO,since I have owned three of them so far. Two of them are gone now but the one I kept is a rare two-tone paint coupe. It was featured in The GTOAA Legend Magazine in Oct.2006. She is a real beauty.

What a beauty it is!
It seems like it was only a '64 that people wanted for so long, perhaps the "first year syndrome", and then it seemed to skip right over the '65 to the '66/'67s and then into the completely restyled '68 and up. Where was the '65 in all of this?
Then one day EVERYONE was looking for a '65. It seems like it was a late bloomer, but what a prise it turned out to be.
It isn't unusual for the second year of a body style to lag behind the first, but finally hobbyists realized just how different the '65 was compared to the "first year" '64. And, actually how refined the design was... crisper, cleaner, just plain much more refined. You are lucky to have realized and enjoyed the '65 for so long.
