can anyone identify what these 6 screws are used for? I'm putting my 36 6cyl engine back together and these don't show up in our reference pictures taken before disassembly or in any of the drawings in the shop manual (they are listed in the parts manual under under standard parts but not with the tapered split end) they are too big to fit on a carb or fuel pump. Any help appreciated, Thanks!

The fact that you mention 6 of them, and that they look oddly familiar got me thinking somewhere in the engine that needs 6 items.

Could they be the piston pin set screws? Check the illustration below. You can actually see the split end.

My 1940 Parts Manual that geos back to 1926 shows them for 1926-28 and 1932-40.

Hope this helps.

Larry you are a life saver Thank you!!!! we got these back with the motor and couldn't figure it out but it turns out Kanter (where we got the pistons from) has upgraded them to use wrist pin clips instead of the screws ( I don't have to take the pan off and start over!)

That's all good news! Hate it when I have left over parts too. I usually just hide them and then listen for strange noises!

Good luck!
