1957 Tailgate Cables

Looking for new or fabricator of tailgate cables for a 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Safari.Length 46-7/8. The market is flooded with cables for Nomad, they are too short. Vendors insist they fit?? But leaves tailgate 30 degrees up.

I have made a number of emergence brake cables over the years with "stock" parts right from the local hardware store. They sell cable of many different thicknesses and many ends that swedge or otherwise fasten to the end of the cable. The clevis end on your old cable should be reusable.

If you have to have a perfectly round cable end (or for lots of other kinds) just do a Google search for "steel cable ends" or "wire rope ends." Should be pretty easy to make this yourself (and save a lot of money too!).

Did a cursory look at your suggestion, looks like that is the direction I have to go.
