Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum as I just recently bought a 1954 Star Chief. I have many questions, but I'll start with just two for now.

1. Where/how do I check the brake fluid? I have a 1954 Star Chief. The brake fluid is the only fluid I haven't checked and topped off yet.

2. I need carpet for the car. Does anyone know where I can get carpeting for a 1954 4 door Star Chief? I've come across 2 door carpeting, but am having trouble finding the 4 door carpet. I was wondering if 4 door Chieftain carpet would fit my Star Chief.

Anyway, thanks for any help. I belong to a Cub Cadet forum and know these places can be great resources. I look forward to many helpful discussions here as well.

Welcome to PontiacRegistry.com

I have had a couple (few) '54 Pontiac Star Chiefs.. just like yours, four-door sedans. The nicest one was a very low mileage Biloxi Beige and white one that moved us all the way from Wisconsin to Florida in 1982 pulling a 14' trailer, hauling a roof rack, and stuffed inside. It had the factory sun visor also.

The brake master cylinder is located on the frame under the front floor. Look under the hood, way down on the driver's side where the floorboards sloop back from the vertical part of the firewall. I had made a long tube with a small funnel to make adding fluid easier from above.

Carpets may be available from SMS- one of our advertisers- look down on the lower left of your screen. That's where I would start. Be sure to tel them that PontiacRegistry.com recommended them. They will like to know their advertising is working. They are also a continual Major Show Sponsor of our "Pontiac Celebration" show in Warwick, RI--- great people!
