Looking for a new home...
My wife and I purchased this car in 1982 (possibly 1983, the title is in the safe deposit box) when we lived in southern California. It was her daily driver until 1987 when I decided to restore the car. I never got much farther than dismantling the drive line and the car has essentially been sitting in my garages in California, New York, and now Rhode Island since then.
Times change and while we both still would love to restore it, we don't think we ever will and are hoping that another Pontiac enthusiast might want it to complete it.
Briefly, this is the car:
1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible.
Has a 1968 400 (HO I think) engine -> I swapped engines with our '68 Firebird 400 coupe with a sport package in 1983 because the original engine had significant wear issues
4 speed manual with Hurst shifter
355 posi rear end
Power top, power steering, hood tach, rear antenna, console, left hand remote mirror (was replaced prior to our ownership)
I converted the non-power drum brakes with power front discs from a '73 Firebird (direct match). I still have the original hubs
The Custom interior in parchment
White top; factory red body (was repainted once prior to our ownership)
The car is from Long Beach. I towed it back from California in 1989 and except for a brief stint under a car cover in my side yard (on a tarp, not on the ground), it has been in one garage or another.
Body is very good. minor rust behind both rear wheels and a bit in each front fender corner (typical beach-sand packed rust, I used to see that a lot out there).
I have our California pink slip. The car is essentially complete.
I have a few pictures that I can share if interested and/or I can take others. If you know someone who might be interested in the car, please have them contact me (I live in Middletown RI). I am hoping that I can sell it to a Pontiac enthusiast rather than putting it on E-Bay and having a speculator buy it. But I will be selling it. $10,000.00
Thank you for your time,
