Unless someone has a magic answer, the Hollander Interchange is a real dog's breakfast of listings. However, I never found any that out-and-out stated a standard and Hydramatic drive shaft were interchangeable.

In most transmission swaps that I have done, a yoke from the new transmission "usually" fits onto the old drive shaft. However, the length usually needs to be altered. This is usually easier and cheaper than hunting for some shaft somewhere that is a possible direct change.

My first guess, based on what I have found, is that a transmission swap in the '62 Catalina will not be able to use the same drive shaft.

The factory manual has all the dimensions for all the driveshafts.

I never checked the manual, but we do have the entire 1962 Pontiac Service Manual in our On-Line Reference Manual Library. Check it out.
