I have a numbers matching 350HO Convertible, TH400,PS, PB, PW, Power Antenna, Deluxe Interior. Car is numbers matching and all cast codes are correct. Car is a survivor, has not been restored but has been painted yellow over the original Cameo White. Canadian car delivered to GM Canada in Winnipeg. I have documentation from GM Canada regarding the car and options. Odo shows 53,995 miles, I have just had the motor rebuilt professionally and with stock parts. My research indicates that this should be a rare car, 1 of 112 convertibles with the 350HO. I will be driving it from Kitchener, Ontario to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton this August 27 and maybe looking to sell the car. Is it as rare as I think and what might an asking price be?

First, beautiful car!

I have not found numbers like your research shows, but it is quite possible that the production of 350HO convertibles could be that low. If the numbers can be documented, keep them handy to prove its rarity.

For value, the only true way is with a professional appraisal, or some very in-depth research on your part of sales, auctions, etc. Old Cars Weekly offers something you can pay for that allows access into their auction records, but it is kind of pricy. Also, the sales of HO convertibls are probably so rare that no auction figures would exist anyway.

As for value, that is subjective too. While the 350HO is rare, rare does not always equate to increased value. There are probaly a lot of people who would rather have a 400, RA 400, or 400 RA IV. The repaint to the non-original color is a negative, but probably not too bad. It sure looks nice.

I would suggest that unless you seek a professional appraisal, do a bunch of web searching on sales of similar Firebirds, and even Camaros. Gather as much info as you can... realizing that many will be pie-in-the-sky sort of prices, and decide what a price is you could live with. Then put it out there as a best ofer situation.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Larry,

Thanks for the response and the compliment on the car. I bought it on a whim a few years ago from a neighbour that had it since he was 16. Didn't realize even that it was numbers matching.

As to the numbers I saw an article online at the link below. Check it out and let me know what you think if you have the time.

http://www.hagerty.com/lifestyle/hobby_article.aspx?id=34640

West Peterson wrote the article and is the Editor of Antique Automobile. Judging from the website I think he might have the resources to have researched appropriately. I am going to email him tomorrow to see if he will provide back up for his numbers in quoted in the above article.

I plan to use the remainder of my complimentary login time (great idea by the way) to see what else is on your site . . . looks good so far.

You can count on my joining as a paid member if I do not sell the car at the Nationals.

I hope to hear from a few of the other posters on this site.

Thanks

Neat article. I would be intersted in the number sourse. Those sort of breakdowns are usually pretty difficult without a ton of research and mathematics, or a factory source. Perhaps it can from Pontiac Historical Services. Haggarty has prety deep pockets when it comes to research, I bet.

Sure would like to see you join up. this is a huge undertaking that needs all Pontiac hobbyist's support so we can do even more.

How about sharig your experiences at the Nationals with us? Please keep us posted.
