Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick- True Blue Pontiac Race

With a car (that is Pontiac, of course) that has dominated the racing fields for so long, it is only fitting that a lot of great names developed during those many years behind the wheels of Pontiac race machines, be that racing in circles or straight lines-- and everything else to do with speed.

But one name has been there from start to present with next to no deviation from the Pontiac arrowhead-- that is, the one and only Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick. And that hasn't been an easy feat either. As a matter of fact, the "Farmer" nickname wasn't just for fun... he had to continue his farming to make a living to support his racing, and to pay for what racing didn't earn.

As an "independent," Arnie has soldiered on through every sort of tough time one could imagine to continue campaigning Pontiacs down 1/4-mile strips across the country for over 50 years. Through it all he has remained loyal to Pontiac. But Pontiacs have been good to Arnie too, seeing him to victory after victory.

Today Arnie enjoys an easier life, but not necessarily a slower one as he continues to travel the nostalgia race circuit thrilling fans just the same as he did when he was in his twenties.

If you see Arnie at a race, be sure to take the time to thank him for his dedication to Pontiac's great drag racing history- it wouldn't be the same without him. Chances are he will thank you back for coming to see him and enjoying his work. He is a great racer and a great person too, well deserving of our Pontiac All Star Hall of Fame.
