Has anyone seen the recent television episode in which each motor division had a shootout on the dyno. A fella was telling me they had a Hemi, 427 Ford, 409 Chevrolet and a 421 Super Duty Pontiac. There might have been other makes involved too. All engine builders were to use stock castings and parts from what I heard.

From what he told me, the Hemi and Ford produced some very unrealistic figures. He said the Mopar engine produced something like 800 horsepower?? The Ford had some unrealistic numbers too. Stroker cranks and tons of cubic inches? No...... these guys would not cheat. HA!!

The Pontiac Super Duty engine produced a little under 500 horsepower. Probably extremely realistic coming from the factory wars and A/FX era. I believe he said Butler was the engine builder for the Pontiac.

Maybe there should be another shootout. Lets let some real Pontiac dudes build a Super Duty. Give the dyno a real workout!

What television program aired this and what were they thinking?

Wish it would have been someone like you representing Pontiac. At least we know you would have done your best to beat out the other brands.

I hate when Pontiac gets misrepresented like this. They have tons of potential. Just need the right builders to prove it.

A fella has always got to remember what MOPAR stands for. "Move over Pontiacs are racing!"

Here Hemi, Hemi, Hemi.

One of my favorite childhood memories....watching Selden's 421 SD Tempest beating up on a couple of Hemi cars.

They do need to get some "real" Pontiac engine builders if they are going to televise or publish this stuff. It is embarrassing to the Pontiac mark and others of us associated with it.

There is a lot of truth to be told about the NHRA. There is a tough criteria in this sanction and they do not let things slip through the cracks. Building a competitive NHRA ride speaks very clearly to me. Not just anyone can do it.

I have seen many Pontiacs with "so-called" professional built engines that do not impress me at all. They are advertising in many national publications. I know the bottom line is important in any business, but the least they can do is build a powerful Pontiac engine that can live. You would be amazed at how many of these engines I have seen come apart at the track. Definitely not a good sign.

I say build a 326 with a set of Edelbrock heads. They are the going trend and I know how highly you think of them. They are also readily available and easy for the public to gain access to.

At least I can feel confident you will build a Pontiac that will impress others. I know many Pontiac enthusiast such as I get tired of being poorly represented. Can not wait to see the results Bruce.

My father and I speak very highly of you. I have seen cars run with your engines and they are very impressive and consistent.

Good luck!
