Hello I am bent wrench from Joliet Il , just found this site , been into Pontiacs since the 1980's, mostly 2nd generation firebirds and 1 hybrid 4th gen , but I decided to move on to the older cars , bought a 1950 coupe , still trying to find out what its labeled as since the older cars info is ambigous and hopeful I can find some help here .

I am not a purest other than if its says Pontiac on the hood it better have one under the hood , the coupe has been clipped with a firebird subframe , and the rear replaced with a 8.5 BOP , the motor was a SS8 but I have several v-8 choices to chose from in my collection of parts and going to auto transmission . well I hope I don't make enemies over this , I bought the car converted and a little rough and the way it was looking the car would have been bound for china as a block of scrap ..

Congratulations on the '50 coupe. Those are getting harder to find all the time. lots of 4-doors, few coupes. To identify properly, check under "Pontiac Information" above, then "Style Numbers." You can find the number on the data plate on the firewall of your car to compare. Hopefully it is still there.

ALL Pontiacs welcome!! As a matter of fact, I am in the process of re-restoring my 1940 Pontiac and will soon send it our to some friends in Missouri (I'm in Florida) for installation of a rack and pinion front end, and a full early Trans Am engine (400) and drivetrain. I've enjoyed the "fun" of traveling cross country in an early stock Pontiac- like changing a fuel pump on the Pennsylvania Turnpike- now it's time for creature comforts.

You're lucky the heavy-lifting has been done on your car already. I think that now you'll find a pretty good availability of the other parts you need still out there. We have a lot of suppliers who can help, some giving nice discounts too.

thanks Larry , the firewall was replaced with a flat version and the data plate has been lost , I think its a 2507d , has the chrome rock guards and some chrome trim around the windows ,and what is left for the interior is grey , the drivers door interior panel is gray and green cloth , and I think the car has been repainted as its two tone under the bedliner the last owner painted it with ( hate people who make rat rods out of good cars ) the colors is a money green lower and a slate gray top , the car is still at the old owners house , waiting for the bank to clear the check , will get get a picture of it when I get it home or when I pick it up ,

I have found its hard to find info on this year , 49's and 51's are no problems but 50's are elusive , I will have some help getting books and stuff from , a friend of mine who works for one of the affiliates that you list .( Then and now , in Mass .)
right now trying to get a picture of the x frame of the car so I know what I am dealing with under it .

It looks like you have a Streamliner Deluxe by that number. Sharp car!

For help, check with our Tech Adviser John Harvey. He is shown under the
Members" button. He is an expert on those years of Pontiacs.

For the frame, check in our On-Line Reference Manual Library. We have the 1949-'54 Shop Manual posted there. One of the first sections should show frame drawings.
