I have a 63 GP that has the factory AC system removed. Im investigating reinstalling the system back into the car. Looking for help identifying the correct heater watercontrol valve the goes into the intake manifold for the heater hose.

Also any advice when doing a project like this. I know all seals will need to be replaced and the receiver/drier. What else am I getting myself into?

Thanks- phil

Sounds like a big project. I hope you have all the pieces.

Both the Parts Manual and Shop Manual show that there is no water control valve on the engine. It is just shown as an elbow. That would mean that any water flow would be controlled under the dash, or that the heater core has water flowing in it all the time. With the heater core tube sticking right through the firewall, that would appear to be the case. I cannot find any water control valves in the heater system either under the hood or under the dash.

Though not familiar with your system, it is possible hot water is always in the heater core and flaps shut off the air flow over the core when heat is not needed. That would make sense if your heat/air conditioning system is the "climate control" type (like my '65 Cadillac had). Still, who wants hot water inside when you're using the A/C? You might just install a heater hose in-line shut off valve that you can manually shut off in summer time.

The condenser must be replaced also (always recommended and new compressors often not warrantied if not replaced at the same time).
