Hello, I'm looking for the quarter glass NAGS # for the 1968 Grande Parisienne two door Hard Top it seems to be a one off glass and the U.S. books I've found does not list the car.
Any suggestions will be appreciated Thanks

The Grand Parisienne is a Canadian Pontiac. In the past (up until 1968) it resembled the Grand Prix. In 1968, no longer except for a unique grille.

According to "Canadian Cars, 1946-1984" "the two-door hardtop used the same roof as the two-door hardtops of the other series."

No longer did the rear end look like the GP either (as in the past). Now it looked like the Bonneville.

When you say "quarter glass" what do you mean? The side rear windows? I would think any Pontiac two-door hardtop glass would work from the other series. The bodies were the same as their U.S. counterparts, except for trim.

The roof was the same the difference was the 68 Grande Parisienne Sport Coupe was the only style that didn't have the wing vent causing the rear glass to come up farther to meet the front glass

Oddly, the Canadian Parts Manual I have does not show anything (at least any where I can find) for glass that isn't in a door (front or rear). I do see that the side rear weatherstripping for the yours is different than the 2-door hardtop with the vent windows.

Is it possible the glass is flat and can be cut, or does it have a curve?

You might be at the mercy of hopefully finding one in a salvage yard, but I bet it will be tough. That is very unusual that the Canadian '68s had no vent windows for your model. PMD U.S. didn't do so until '69 (other than '68 Firebird that is).

Thanks for your reply yes it is curved glass and PMD U.S. First started removing the wing vent in some late 1967 Grand Prixs and all of 1968 Grand Prixs
had no wing vent that was how I acquired the front glass I have now. although the back glass is completely different on those models, but the Canadian Grande Parisienne shared the same top as the Bonneville (my car),Catalina along with other GMs Buick, Olds and Chevy the Canadian version was the only one without a wing vent. I have been actively looking for them used as well as trying to locate the NAGS # (national auto glass specification number)but the Grande Parisienne 2 door H.T. is not listed in the U.S. books, I'm hoping that somewhere out there I could acquire a Canadian parts interchange manual that would have the NAGS# I'm looking for.

You're right about the '68 GP (a rather unloved GP); I forgot about that one in '68 not having the vent windows. Sadly the Canadian "GP" didn't use the U.S. GP body. You've got a real "Mr. In-Between" there.

Did Hollanger make a Canadian Interchange Manual? I've got the U.S. set for many years, but they don't mention Canadian models.

I looked one more time and finally found side glass (not in doors) in my Canadian Parts Manual. See the page attached. I don't know what all the numbers mean, but do see 1968 shown. I don't quite understand why there is no right or left indicated. Perhaps you can figure something from this.

Yes Thank you I believe the PMD part number for the glass I'm looking for is the two sequential numbers one representing L.H. the other R.H. at the bottom with the asterisk beside them, the reason I think this is because the following numbers 1968/766 /-87/ is the the body style numbers for the Grande Parisienne as the picture I found below from a posting of the car with the glass I'm looking for. I'll see if my glass man can cross reference those to the NAGS numbers I need.

I believe you're right about the part numbers. That makes sense.

I sure hope your glass guy can come up with something. Is it possible to duplicate the glass in Lexan (sp?) if you can't fine original real glass? Also, this might be a long shot, but there is some place in Sweden (or one of those Scandinavian countries where everyone is blond!) that duplicates windshields. A piece of near-flat glass should be pretty easy.

Have not heard back from glass company today but I did make a template of the glass I need and the estimate from a glass co. was over 3000. do to the fact it is curved. If it were flat glass life would be good and I would have already had them made (lesson learned). Never considered Lexan might be a good Idea !
