Good evening everyone,

I'm new to this forum. i was wondering if there is an exact measurement for the door to quarter and door to rocker panel gaps for the 70 LeMans Sports? Thanks much for any information in advance.

I have never seen a service manual with such measurements, however, there are some "body" manuals that I have seen for some of the older cars, but not the newer ones (though they probably exist). I bet a Google search on "proper door gaps" would show a lot of information.

If you watch some of the TV shows (some good, many bad), when it comes to panel gaps, they often use a plastic body filler application piece to use as a space checker.

There is probably no right or wrong as all cars and panels are usually a bit different somewhere or another. What I have always seen is people checking that the gaps were all "even" from top-to-bottom or side-to-side, and matching pretty well all around. Check other cars and you will see when they are right, and definitely when they are wrong (as is often the case).

Larry, I greatly appreciate your response. My bro was wanting me to find out if there was an actual measurement based on the fact that we did a 67 Camaro from the ground up many yrs ago, and this manual that he had aquired (which he can't find at present) had exact measurements for it, so we were just checking to see if someone knew......again, much appreciation for the response good sir.

You probably had an Assembly Manual for the Camaro. I checked a Fisher Body Manual for 1975 that I have and there is lots of information on what is in a door, but nothing about spacing when installing one.

There is a ton of information in a Google search of "setting auto door gaps." There seems to be a general agreement that 4-5mm is the correct gap (one says 3/16" which might be the same) for any and all cars.

I think working to that goal and keeping the gap as even as possible around the car would pass any judging muster. Good luck.
