I just bought a 1940 Arrow sedan and want to do a engine / tranny swap, has anyone found which size is the easiest to do?

Congratulations on your new Pontiac!

I do not see what engine the Arrow (and Arrow DeLuxe) used, only that the Special Six (which superseded the Chieftain) used the American Pontiac six.

Does (did) yours have a Chevy six? If so, that would make swaps a lot easier as those engines changed very little over the years. If a U.S. engine, most all sixes up to '54 were very similar.

It has the inline 6, however I can't seem to understand which model it is. The plate on the firewall says model 2219s. So I am confused now which model. As for the engine swap I think I am just going to keep this one and drive it for the summer.

The "22" must be a Canadian model designation as all U.S. '40s were 25, 26, 28, or 29 models. Perhaps the "19" is like U.S. models meaning 4-door. Is yours a 4-door? I cannot locate Canadian model number references.

Here's a neat article on a car similar to yours: https://www.insideottawavalley.com/news-story/4279964-regina-built-1940-pontiac-with-same-owner-35-years/

Thanks for the great article, yes it is a Canadian made arrow so I am pretty sure it is the base model. Now I will start looking for some replacement parts online to get for it. Fantastic group on here. So much information.
