Send a specific list and I'll check the Hollander Interchange Manuals for you.

However, I don't think suspension items would require interchange ideas as there is still so much of that stuff around it is doubtful you would need to go hunting for alternatives.

Seats probably would never match (or be shown as interchangeable) because patterns and styles would be all over the place, even if the actual seat would fit. I would bet the 1963 and '64 would be the same, but iffy on '620s on down and '65s on up. Same though for glass.

Send the list and we'll do the best we can. Perhaps other GM models will come into play here.

Can you please give us the body style of your car so we can look up some of the interchange?

Looking at the 2-door hardtop info, it is clear that most all GM cars of 1062-64 can share a lot of the glass you are in question about. I'm sure since the bodies were then pretty much the same, the seats would interchange also (except foe material and pattern differences).

Why change control arms? I'm sure the factory ones are as good as you will ever need. As for springs, contact Eaton Detroit Spring (see ad to the left and below).

A narrower rear end? Are you planning some big meats in the back? If so you're going to be needing tubbing and perhaps even moving springs inboard too, depending on how crazy you plan to go.

4-Door sedan or not, it appears most all GM (Olds, Buick, Chev) 1962-64 items like glass and seats will interchange. Check with us on any specific items so we can check before you buy though.

As for widest tires, you should be able to get some good size tires under it. We're assuming you mean the back, as up front there are steering issues to contend with too.

It may be trail and error as there is no magic size answer. However, remember too that the offset and setback of the wheel will also determine the width you can get away with.

Check in our Tech Forum for some information on wheel offset and setback. It was posted a short time ago by me. It will help.

Good luck!

Radiator interchange, seems like pontiac parts are high priced, is there a better alternative for a performance radiator that will work. Thanks so much.

I don't know what price range you're trying to stay in, but MAX Performance offers the Cold case aluminum radiators. They have a full size for your car at $369.00. Check it out at: http://coldcaseradiators.com/fullsize/

No other car model would be cheaper, especially for a "performance" radiator. Places like Speedway Motors and Yogies sell radiators by measurements for a whole lot less. Check size, hose placements, and if has transmission cooling built in, etc. Check their web sites.

What sort of parts are you looking for that the heads are a concern? Check our On-Line Magazine for articles on head identification. See the cast in number on the heads right in the middle at the exhaust exits.

Read this thread and it will answer all your questions: http://www.gtoforum.com/f50/d-port-round-port-headers-38033/

I would bet if you have a garden variety 389, you will just have D-port heads. These round jobbies were pretty performance items.

Check your head numbers.

8.00 x 14 4-ply standard on all models except Safari, police, heavy duty chassis, and air conditioned cars.

8.50 x 14 4-ply standard on all air conditioned and Safari cars.

(From 1963-64 Service Manual)

You will need to translate these "old" sizes to the new way they size tires. That is available n-line or ask your local tire shop; they should know.
