I just got my 1964 Grand Prix running, did my 30 min. cam break-in, runs great with the tri-power. I have converted to a 4 speed from automatic, first time stepping on the clutch with the engine running. As I pressed the clutch to the floor, the last two inches or so before the pedal bottomed out I heard and felt light scraping on the clutch pedal, only happens when I go full travel. If I don't go full travel it operates normal. Any body have any thoughts to what its hitting?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!! Shocked

If the "scrapping" is from the actual clutch pedal and its external linkage, that should be easy enough to find by inspecting for scratches or watching from below as someone else depresses the pedal.

However, if it is internal, then you need to think about the throwout bearing and/or pressure plate fingers. Is it just a scrapping noise, or something that sounds like it is spinning? Do you have the proper amount of play on the top end so that you are not over extending the compression of the pressure plate causing some sort of noise?

You might check with Les at Pontiac Paradise. Look for contact under "Pontiac Affiliates" then "Member Discounts" and "Pontiac Parts." He has lots of experience in these conversions. Phone: 651-280-9681; e-mail: killerbob33@aol.com

It's definitely internal and as you said its probably the throw out bearing which I varified from Brad at Fabcraft. He said they have a thin and thick bearing for these assemblies. BTW this is the HD setup with the Borg& Beck style three fingered pressure plate. I guess I'll be pulling the trans again !!!
BTW Les at PP had a stroke and is in the hospital, I talked to him and is hanging in there, Hope he has a speedy recovery
