Have they all been inspected/rebuilt, and bled properly?

If you have a "brake spoon" or just a big flat screwdriver, you're all set.

Figuring out the star wheel direction first saves a lot of work when going the wrong direction.

I've always run them up nice and snug, then backed them off to hear just a little rubbing. Be sure the then apply them a few times before letting down and then recheck that they still have an equal amount of drag sound.

Then the fun part... going out and test driving... slow at first!

Our 1940 Pontiac Shop Manual in our On-Line Reference Library would have the same applicable procedures for you to reference.

All rebuilt!,Hopefully bled tomorrow, These ones have the eccentrics and a small slot in the drums to insert a feeler gage to get initial setting of the shoes then the common star adjuster thru slot in backside of drum. overall a very complicated system for such a simple adjustment!
