Hi Folks,
My name is Jerry Fry, I am new to the Registry. Not sure where this
needs to be posted. Sorry if I am posting in the wrong area.

Ok, I just purchased my uncles 1973 Grand Am 4 speed car
(Unrestored). He purchased the car new in Cincinnati from Riser Pontiac. I have all documentation from 1973 Until he passed in 2005. I also have all the original parts that were replaced over the years including the original
wheels and tires.

My question is I know its a rare auto, 1 of 187 made. Does anyone know how many are still left, and what its value my be? I cannot find much
Info on them...

I tried to attach pictures but it says that the pixels are to wide... I will work on sending picts of it.

Any time you have one of only 187, that is 42 years ole, you have something very rare. I have heard for years of people checking out the old Grand Ams hoping to glance inside and find one of the 4-speeds (have done it myself!).

These cars of the early '70s suffered from very poor build quality, and also rust issues. Not to mention the front noses didn't last at all. One would hope that someone who had a 4-speed might have known of its rarity and saved it, but by the time they were getting tired out, they just weren't popular yet, so few people probably knew how rare they were, and would become.

Would love to see the photos. I'm guessing they are quite large because our forums seldom have a problem with size. If you can reduce them, please try again. Also, remember to set up a free Photo Album. Perhaps there it will not be restricted by the size.

Hi Larry,
I appreciate the response.... I attached photos this time...
This car is almost a perfect unrestored, unmolested car that I have
ever seen.....Absolutely no rust anywhere, besides a little surface
rust on the alternator and master cylinder.

As you can see in the photos, my uncle put those wheels and tires on
it in 1974.. I still have the original wheels and tires for it.

What amazes me is he kept every document for the car, every oil
change including the box with paperwork. Anything he ever did to
it, I have paperwork on it... As you can see in the photos I have the
window sticker, including photos of it at the dealership when he
bought it.. It only has 41,000 miles on it...

I washed it for the first time in 10 years Thursday. After wiping it
down and letting it sit in the sun. The front bumper looked like I
poured stripper all over it, the bumper literally started to
disintegrate. It was real oily and brittle... What a shame.....
The front bumper was perfect prior to the sun...

Not sure what I am going to do about the bumper, as I do not want
to hurt the value. From my reading on this site, even if I did find a
NOS bumper it would probably do the same thing.

1973 GTO

PostPosted: Thu Oct 01, 2015 2:14 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Jerry not to burst your bubble but the 1 of 187 is of the 4 spd GTO's in 73 that were the AD coupes not the Grand Am. As of yet there are no accurate accounts of how many Grand Am's came with a 4 spd. Same goes for the ones with an auto. So the figure of 1 of 187 is incorrect. Sorry.
