Does anyone know where I can find a very tiny return spring that goes on the underside of the shifter? Mine was rusted and now broken. See pic:

Thx,
Mike

Other than getting extremely lucky and finding one very similar, or that can be modified, and/or locating a single piece of a rather rare unit like this is pretty slim.

I did a quick search of "custom springs" and found lots of places that will make special springs of all types and sizes. Such as: http://www.mrspring.com/index.php

Now, doing something like this may mean you would have to have ten or more made, but think how rich you'll get selling he only new replacements available! Perhaps.....

On the other hand, a quick search of "His Her Shifter Repair" pops up a number of things. The first one is very interesting. I assume your shifter is a Hurst. If so check this out: http://www.hurstshiftersonline.com/productcart/pc/viewContent.asp?idpage=3

I don't know if they sell individual parts, but it's worth asking.

Let us know what you learn in this quest so we can share it with everyone.

Thanks to Larry, I was able to find this replacement 'lockout' spring at hurstshiftersonline.com. They are in the business of rebuilding Hurst shifters and don't normally sell parts, but an exception since I told them that I would mention them in this forum. They are located in York, SC and the owner's name is Scotty, very nice guys! He was so nice that he sent the part to me and told me to pay him when I get the spring...that's a great company!

Great news! Glad it worked out well, and happy we could help.
