'63 Tempest Passing 'Vette

Super Duty DAZE!
Sometime in 1963

PMD history files

Ah, the Good Old Days! The days when Pontiac owners held their heads up high on Monday morning after Pontiacs cleaned up on the weekend drag strips and ovals. The '63 Tempest was the King of the Hill when it came to Super Duty too. While they were not quite "out of the box" cars, the weight distrubution created with the transaxle design, as well as light weight due to size, made them very desirable for the racing crowd.
This shot was repeated time and again on the tracks, obviously to the surprise of many who were not used to being beat. An intermediate sedan passing a Corvette? Get used to it sports fans!
