Our PontiacRegistry.com writer/contributor Dale Arries shares these hot shots of famous racer Don Gay's Firebird at the Pamona, California 1968 Winter Nationals. So inspired by this beautiful Firebird, Dale went on to get his own 1968 F'bird. He notes that these truck rigs shown here were how the "Big Dogs" traveled the drag race circuit back then.... no big celebrity cruiser buses like today. The average guy just tow-bared to the strip on the weekend with the family station wagon. These were some exciting days of drag racing!
